 "Pyle's Last Stand"

If you have driven by the Pyles in the summer you have likely purchased vegetables from the Pyle's "stand" between their barn and house adjacent to the south side of Yellow Springs Road (now owned by General Residential Properties). This wonderful and aptly named watercolor was painted in 1999 by Geraldine M. Berg and was borrowed from the Charlestown Historical Society to obtain the above photograph. It seems as though there is always at least one cat observing the shoppers.
For the past few years, Tom Pyle has been stocking the stand and it is possible this will be the last summer that it will be available. These vegetables were grown across the road on the same 55 acre parcel being sold by GVSD and which may some day be growing vegetables as a Community Supported Agriculture project.
