Charlestown Township Subdivision Plans

Following upon work by Al VanBrunt and the Charlestown Green, Inc. reflected in the October 1998 issue of the Green's Newsletter, we have created a web version of the Subdivison Plans Map, complete with the map key.
The full map showing each subdivision is presented on other pages using the full width of the web pages, omitting the left column menu. The map is shown in this wide format in four versions -
Full Township
North Zone   (Northeast of Charlestown Rd)
Central Zone   (Yellow Spring Rd to Charlestown Rd)
South Zone   (South of Yellow Springs Rd)
South Central North Charlestown Township Map Zones
The three zone maps allow a larger degree of magnification on your computer screen, making it easier to read the road names and subdivision identifying codes.
Note: Whenever you see the small map image shown above, with the three zones identified, clicking within any of the three zones takes you to a full width image of that zone. Try it now. Click in the "Central" zone in the above map. Then use your browser's "Back" button to return to this page.
In addition to the maps, the complete key to the individual subdivisions is provided on a separate Subdivision Keys page. Each subdivision is linked to the appropriate subdivision plan zone map on which the subdivision is depicted. For convenience in finding subdivisions on the maps as well as allowing you to focus only on subdivisions in a particular category, each category is color coded.
  • [A] Projects Approved and Under Construction  (Red)
  • [B] Projects Approved and Not Yet Built  (Blue)
  • [C] Projects in Process of Plan Review  (Yellow)
  • [D] Other Pending Projects  (Brown)
In addition to the color keys, each category of subdivision is represented on the maps by a line-fill that helps distinguish the categories when the maps are printed on a black and white or gray scale printer.
Each subdivision is assigned a permanent number on these maps. Each is designated by a code on the key and the map as "XX-#", where "XX" is the permanently assigned number, and "#" is the letter code, "A", "B", "C", or "D", designating the category in which the subdivision is currently found. Over time, a typical subdivision in the "In Process of Plan Review" category (letter "C"), will move up to the "B" and ultimately the "A" category. As it does so, we will change it on the map by changing the letter code and color code, but it will retain its number.
Other Uses Of These Maps - One of the reasons for publishing these maps is so that we can provide links to the appropriate zone map when a particular subdivision is mentioned in our reports of the meetings of the Board of Supervisors and the Planning Commission. We will also provide a link to the appropriate map when a subdivision appears in the official minutes of these government bodies. We will start implementing these links in future reports and minutes. In addition, we will continue to update the maps to reflect the changes in status of subdivision plans as well as incorporate new plans as they come before the Planning Commission.
Credits - A big THANKS goes to Al VanBrunt who compiled the original map and map-key for the Charlestown Green´s October 1998 Newsletter. We also thank Township Secretary Linda Csete for her help in defining subdivision boundaries for our maps.
Disclaimer - These maps are not official publications of Charlestown Township. We are not responsible for errors on these maps. If you are aware of significant errors, please contact us with an explanation of what needs to be corrected. In the meantime, I am aware that many of the subdivision areas on the maps need to be refined, especially in terms of "cutting out" small rectangles for bordering properties that are not really within the surrounding subdivision.
