Roadmaster Report to the Board of Supervisors

July 7, 2003

During June, we continued to repair and replace traffic signs as needed. Additional markings for the speed limit signs on Union Hill Road have been ordered. I also checked several trees that were ready to fall.
I met with PennDOT several times and have the details ready for an Agility Agreement with them. This appears to be a beneficial trade of resources that will help keep our roads in good condition.
I have reviewed the bids for the road work, trees and mowing, and materials and find them to be complete.
I moved five utility poles from the Charlestown Elementary School grounds to the Brightside Farm property.
The intersection improvements at the Charlestown Road / Phoenixville Pike / Warner Lane / Yellow Springs Road area seem to be at a standstill. The railroad crossing preemption has been installed and tested at Warner Lane however, at last check, the traffic controller was not connected to either the signal lights or to the railroad.
I am continuing to review township roads for deficiencies or necessary improvements. The reflective bar installation on critical stop-sign posts is continuing.
Road materials status:

Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Roadmaster
