Roadmaster Report to the Board of Supervisors

June 2, 2003

The spring road tour was completed. The township roads are generally in good condition. Recommendations for required road work will be forthcoming. The township engineer and I reviewed the bid package for road work and materials and mowing/tree work. We also checked problems on Ridgewood Road and Great Woods Lane.
I met with PennDot regarding the Agility program and also for drainage problems on Phoenixville Pike. I checked several dead trees near the roadway that need to be removed.
I met with a PECO representative regarding the street lighting at the Charlestown Elementary School. I am also pursuing occupancy permits for the utility poles needed for the vehicle preemption remote installation at Route 401 and Valley Hill Road.
Intersection improvements continue in the Charlestown Road / Phoenixville Pike / Warner Lane / Yellow Springs Road area. The railroad crossing preemption has been corrected at Morehall and Charlestown Roads. The Devault Lane railroad signal system is being tested. The utility poles have been removed from Valley Hill Road.
The traffic signal controller at Route 401 and Valley Hill Road was out of service for a short time due to a vehicle accident on Phoenixville Pike near the Great Valley High School.
I am continuing to review township roads for deficiencies or necessary improvements. The reflective bar installation on critical stop-sign posts is continuing.
