Roadmaster Report to the Board of Supervisors
February 3, 2003
January was also a busy month with storms, wind, freezing rain and icing conditions on the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 17th, and 29th. The road contractor again responded to each as requested in a timely manner with few road-related problems.
Checked road kill on Pikeland Road and tree down on Pine Drive. Worked with PA Turnpike personnel on drainage problem on Yellow Springs Road. Worked with Norfolk Southern RR, PennDOT, Allen Meyers Company, Eckman Company, Miller Electric and township engineer regarding the railroad preemption for the Route 29/Charlestown Road signal. Met with Supervisors, PennDOT and township engineer regarding the Union Hill Road/Route 29 intersection. The lights at the township yard are now working and the wiring/generator installation is nearly complete.
Intersection improvements continue in the Charlestown Road / Phoenixville Pike / Warner Lane / Yellow Springs Road area with additional testing needed after some modifications are completed following the January 8th test.
I am continuing to review township roads for deficiencies or necessary improvements. The reflective bar installation on critical stop-sign posts is continuing. The bar is not being installed until the stop-sign meets current PennDOT specifications.
Road materials status:

Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
