Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors

November 1, 1999

CALL 9-1-1 if you have an emergency! Do not call your firehouse. Calls to the firehouse cannot be handled properly. Use the 9-1-1 system. It works!
During the month of October, the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies responded to one house fire, five automatic fire alarms, one trees and wires, one brush fire, five vehicle accidents, one odor investigation, one CO detector alarm and one electrical appliance fire.
The emergency calls were as follows:
   House fire on Charlestown Road
   Automatic fire alarms on:
  • Rapps Run Road
  • Brandywine Court
  • General Warren Boulevard
  • Morehall Road
  • Sawgrass Lane
Trees and wires on Whitehorse Road
   Brush fire on Phoenixville Pike
   Vehicle accidents on:
  • Coldstream and Maryhill Roads
  • Amwell Valley Drive and Stewarts Court
  • Coldstream Road at the bend
  • Charlestown and Hilltop Roads
  • Rt. 29 and Yellow Springs Road
Odor investigation on Green Lane Road
CO detector alarm on Great Woods Lane
Electrical appliance fire on Rapps Run Road
Precipitation for October was 9/10" above normal for the month. I attended a site meeting on Mine Road, reviewed preliminary plans for the 401 / Newcomen Road development, attended an AFAA meeting, and patrolled for TownWatch both 10/30 and 10/31/99.
Please be careful when driving, especially in rural areas. There are many, many deer moving around, not just in darkness, but also during the early and late daylight periods. Hitting a deer can do significant damage to you and your vehicle and doesn't do the deer much good either.
Respectfully submitted,

Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal
