Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors
November 5, 2001
During the month of October, the East Whiteland Fire Company responded to three automatic fire alarms, one odor investigation, and three vehicle accidents.
The emergency calls were as follows:
Automatic fire alarms at:
- Morehall Road (seventh and eighth alarms this year)
- Sawgrass Lane
Odor Investigation on:
Vehicle accidents on:
- Union Hill Road
- Route 29 at the "S" bend
- Yellow Springs Road
Precipitation for October was 2" below normal resulting in a deficit of nearly 7" for the year. Please reduce your water usage and burn only in accord with our burning ordinance.
Our deer population is on the move! As you drive, please be alert for them. They can do quite a bit of damage to you and your vehicle.
I met with the Township Engineer and PennDOT regarding the light at Rt 401 and Valley Hill Road.
I met with our solicitor twice and both of the Fire Chiefs that serve our township regarding the new fire control ordinance. It will be in your hands shortly.
The EOC staff met to discuss the new evaluation guidelines for the Limerick biennial exercise that has been postponed until the end of April, 2002. Please consider joining our Emergency Operations Center staff. Training is free and your services are appreciated, especially in light of recent events. Contact me or the township office for details.
I patrolled with the Townwatch both "Devil's Night" and Halloween evenings.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston, Fire Marshal
