Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors
October 5, 1998
The month of September was relatively quiet for
the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies that respond to our township.
There were three automatic fire alarms, one vehicle fire, one vehicle accident,
one smoke investigation, one trash fire and one wires fire.
The incidents were as follow:
-
Automatic alarms on Rapps Run Drive, General Warren
Boulevard and South Winds Lane
-
Vehicle fire on Route 29 at Warner Lane
-
Vehicle accident on Spring Mill Drive
-
Smoke investigation at Pikeland Road and Three Ponds
Lane
-
Trash fire on Charlestown Road at the cemetery
-
Wires fire behind a Valley Forge Christian College
building
I inspected a Conrail train with non-standard (for
our area) engines and handled a trees and wires incident on Bodine Road.
Precipitation for September was 1-3/4", just
half of the normal 3-1/2;". We are now about 5" below normal
for 1998. Please continue to be careful with any permitted burning
and do not leave the fire unattended.
Now that cooler weather has arrived, be sure
to check your chimneys for blockage or buildup of creosote and soot that
may cause a fire. If you are in doubt, have your chimney professionally
cleaned.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal
