Fire Marshal Reports to the Board of Supervisors

September

October 4, 2004
For the month of September, 2004

During the month of September, the East Whiteland Township Volunteer Fire Association, Kimberton Fire Company and I responded to five trees/wires, three automatic alarms, three vehicle accidents and one helicopter standby.
The emergency calls were as follows:
   Trees/Wires
  • Rees Road
  • Stone Lane
  • Phoenixville Pike and Spring Mill Drive
  • State and Hollow Roads
  • State Road at the ice dam
   Automatic alarms on:
  • Somerset Lane
  • Whitehorse Road
  • Maryhill Road
   Vehicle accidents on:
  • Phoenixville Pike near Warner Lane
  • Charlestown and Pickering Roads
  • State and Hollow Roads
Precipitation for the month was way above normal due to the remnants of two hurricanes which left us with over 15" of rain locally. The yearly average (at the Philadelphia Airport) is about 7" above normal.
Fall is upon us - please remember that the only permitted burning is leaves and waste papers. Keep an eye out for deer along our roadways and at the end of October, please watch for children on the roads for Halloween.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal / Emergency Management Coordinator
