Precipitation for July and August was below normal resulting in a deficit of 4" for the year. We are in a drought condition - please reduce your water usage.
I worked at the Kimberton Fire Company Fair during the last week of July. I also met with the State Police regarding several fire related issues. And, as I reported at last monthÕs meeting, the traffic light at Rt. 401 and Valley Hill Road while doing a very good job during non-rush hour traffic, causes terrific backups during the rush hours. When traffic is backed up more than 25 or30 car-lengths heading west or 15 to 20 car-lengths heading east, the emergency vehicle preemption cannot work. I have received numerous complaints, the latest from the East Whiteland Fire Chief regarding this situation. Before this light causes an accident, it must be modified to accommodate the real world rush-hour traffic. I did meet with Mr. Kohli and a representative from PennDot on August 13, 2001 and am waiting to see the testing and changes recommended to alleviate this problem.
We replaced a couple of older tables at the Emergency Operations Center and are getting ready for our practice table-top drill in anticipation of the biennial Limerick drill on Novermber 1, 2001. Please consider joining our Emergency Operations Center staff. Training is free and your services are appreciated. Please contact me or the township office for details.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston, Fire Marshal
