Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors
August 4, 2003
During the month of July, the East Whiteland Township Volunteer Fire Association, Kimberton Fire Company and I responded to four automatic alarms, one dumpster fire, one smoke investigation, one wires fire and one fireworks display.
The emergency calls were as follows:
Automatic fire alarms on:
- Valley Hill Road
- Sawgrass Lane
- Morehall Road
- Eastwick Drive
Dumpster fire on Whitehorse Road
Smoke investigation on Conestoga Road
Wires fire on Conestoga Road
Fireworks display on Jamie Lane
Our precipitation was under 2" for the month which was about 2.5" below normal. We are just over 2" above normal for the year.
I witnessed the sprinkler testing for the Charlestown Elementary School and inspected the First Student Transportation offices on Phoenixville Pike.
I attended an EOC training session at the Limerick Information center.
Be careful while driving in the sudden pop-up thunderstorms. They can drop a lot of water in a very short period of time and cause flash flooding along roads that are normally dry.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal / Emergency Management Coordinator
