Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors
July 7, 2003
During the month of June, the East Whiteland Township Volunteer Fire Association, Kimberton Fire Company and I responded to two automatic alarms, one trees / wires fire, one fireworks display and one open burning incident.
The emergency calls were as follows:
Automatic fire alarms on:
- Ravenhill Road
- Rosewood Lane
Trees / wires fire on Howells Road
Open burning on White Horse Road
Fireworks display on Newcomen Road (permit issued)
Our precipitation was 8" for the month which was nearly 5" above normal. We are just under 5" above normal for the year.
I toured the Independence Materials quarry, attended a PennSTAR safety seminar, checked addressing at the Christian College, checked a fireworks display and checked the NSRR signal at Warner Lane.
I worked with both PECO and Verizon to obtain occupancy permits for the installation of the preemption remotes at Valley Hill Road and Route 401.
The deer population seems to have exploded this year. Please be careful while driving as the deer are out almost any time of the day and night.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal / Emergency Management Coordinator
