During the month of June, the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies and I responded to five automatic fire alarms, one CO detector, one investigation, one special duty and eight vehicle accidents.
The emergency calls were as follows:
   Automatic fire alarms at:
  • Maryhill Road (3 times)
  • Howells Road
  • Chesterfield Lane
   CO dectectors on:
  • Eastwick Lane
   Investigations on:
  • Fisher Lane
Special duty standby at Conestoga and Newcomen Roads for a fireworks display
   Vehicle accidents on:
  • Morehall and Yellow Springs Roads
  • Charlestown and Hollow Roads
  • Coldstream Road at the "S" bend
  • State Road at the "S" bend
  • Conestoga Road west of Valley Hill Road
  • Morehall and Charlestown Roads
  • Charlestown and Pickering Roads
  • Charlestown and Pickering Dam Roads
Precipitation for June was normal for the month. We remain under a drought emergency. Please continue to follow the water conservation measures as outlined by the county and state.
One fireworks display permit was issued. Under the provisions of our ordinance, all fireworks displays must have a permit. With the Fourth of July holiday imminent, be sure to apply for a fireworks permit at least two weeks before any intended display.
The FEMA Evaluator's preliminary report for our Emergency Operations Center participation in the biennial Limerick Nuclear Generating Station Drill on May 7, 2002 showed NO deficiencies for our EOC. This coming just after the PEMA Observer's positive report reiterates that our EOC staff members are very professional and do an excellent job. I would like to again thank all who participate in the EOC.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal / Emergency Management Coordinator
