Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors
June 4, 2001
During the month of May, the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies responded to one brush fire, one trash fire, four automatic fire alarms, one trees/wires, one smoke investigation, one helicopter landing, one ambulance assist, and six vehicle accidents.
The emergency calls were as follows:
Brush fire on Dickson Drive
Trash fire on Charlestown Hunt Drive
Automatic alarms at:
- Phoenixville Pike
- Theresa Drive
- Charlestown Road
- Crown Oak Drive
Trees and wires on Yellow Springs Road
Smoke investigation on Valley Hill Road
Vehicle accidents on:
- 3000 block of Phoenixville Pike (2 separate accidents)
- Charlestown Road near Pickering Road (2 separate accidents)
- Coldstream and Maryhill Roads
- Coldstream Road at the ÒSÓ bend
Precipitation for May was near normal.
If you must burn, do it safely and in accordance with our fire control ordinance. Also, be considerate of your neighbors who are downwind of your fire.
The Emergency Operations Center received several sturdy easels, a 2-line digital answering machine and a 4-line telephone from Chester County Emergency Services. We have also requested some additional computer equipment to display status and operations reports to help keep all staff members up-to-date. This request was made through Chester County Emergency Services to be funded with Act 147 monies that are available.
