Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors

May 3, 1999

During the month of April, the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies responded to three dwelling and garage fires and one automatic fire alarm. Additionally, I investigated several incidents of open burning.
The emergency calls were as follow:
Dwelling and garage fires on
  • Pikeland Road
  • Rapps Run Drive
  • Wells Road
Automatic fire alarm on
  • Wells Road
Precipitation for April was about one quarter inch below normal for the month. There remains a significant deficit for the last 16 months totaling over 6 inches. The burning ban is lifted, effective immediately. Burning must be done in accordance with the provisions of the Fire Control Regulation Ordinance. Please use common sense. If you have any questions, please contact me.
We are quickly approaching the season for deer to roam over our roads and highways. Please use extreme caution when driving as hitting a deer can do a significant amount of damage not only to your vehicle, but also the vehicle occupants. It doesn't do the deer much good either.

Respectfully submitted,

Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal
