Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors

May 5, 2003

During the month of April, the East Whiteland Township Volunteer Fire Association and I responded to seven automatic alarms, one wires fire and one open burning. The Kimberton Fire Company report was not available.

The emergency calls were as follows:
   Automatic fire alarms on:
  • Theresa Drive
  • Howells Road
  • Spring Meadow Farm Lane
  • Morehall Road
  • General Warren Boulevard
  • Rapps Run Drive
  • Yellow Springs Road
   Wire fire on Whitehorse Road
Our precipitation was 2.2" for the month which was 1.3" below normal. We remain below average for this year as well as the last 15 months.
I attended the quarterly EOC training session held at Octorora High School which covered "Duties and Responsibilities of the Emergency Management Coordinator" and "Initial Damage Reporting".
We have new regulations concerning fireworks displays as well as new burning regulations which are in effect for all outside burning. If you must burn, do it safely and in accordance with our ordinance.
It is again that time of the year for deer to be out and about. Please be careful while driving, especially around twilight and sunrise.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal / Emergency Management Coordinator
