Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors

May 7, 2001

During the month of April, the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies responded to six automatic fire alarms, one vehicle fire, one brush fire, one smoke investigation, and four vehicle accidents.
The emergency calls were as follows:
   Automatic alarms at:
  • Morehall Road - two times, same business
  • Whitehorse Meadows Lane
  • Spring Mill Drive
  • Great Woods Lane
  • General Warren Boulevard
   Vehicle fire on Maryhill Road
   Brush fire on Green Lane
   Smoke investigation on Jeffords Court

   Vehicle accidents on:
  • Route 401 and Valley Hill Road - two accidents
  • Route 29 and Charlestown Road
  • Coldstream Road at the ÒSÓ bend
Precipitation for April was 1.25" below normal. We are now about .75" below average for the year.
The weather conditions are generally dry right now. Be very careful if you must burn and do it safely and in accordance with our fire control ordinance Ð in an approved container and burn only leaves and waste papers. Also, be considerate of your neighbors who are downwind of your fire.
Watch out for the deer as they are again on the move. They can do a lot of damage to your vehicle if you hit one.
Respectfully submitted,

Frederick C. Alston, Fire Marshal
