Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors

March 4, 2002

During the month of February, the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies and I responded to two automatic fire alarms, one odor investigation, one woods fire, one trees/ wires fire, two dwelling fires, and three vehicle accidents. I had one inspection and one incident of open burning.
The emergency calls were as follows:
   Automatic fire alarms at:
  • Pikeland Road
  • Ravenhill Road
   Odor investigations on:
  • Bellwood Court
   Woods fire on Charlestown Road
   Trees/wires fire on Conestoga Road
   Vehicle accidents on:
  • Yellow Springs Road
  • Charlestown Road at the Playhouse
  • Charlestown and Pickering Dam Roads
   Inspection on Phoenixville Pike
Open burning on Yellow Springs Road
Precipitation for February was 2.25" below normal for the month. We are 13" below normal for the last 13 months and currently the southeastern portion of Pennsylvania is under a drought emergency. Please follow the water conservation measures as outlined by the county and state. The burning ban on outside burning in the township is still in effect. There is also a county-wide burning ban.
The new situation status monitors for the EOC are installed and operational.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal / Emergency Management Coordinator
