Fire Marshal Report to the Board of Supervisors

February 4, 2002

During the month of January, the East Whiteland and Kimberton Fire Companies and I responded to five automatic fire alarms, three odor investigations, one mulch fire, one wires, one fuel spill, one vehicle fire, and five vehicle accidents. I conducted one inspection and attended a training session at the Limerick Generating Station.
The emergency calls were as follows:
   Automatic fire alarms at:
  • Buckwalter Road
  • Lewisville Court
  • Seven Oaks Road
  • Ravenhill Road
  • Huntington Court
Odor investigations on:
  • Hidden Hollow Court
  • General Warren Boulevard (same business two times)
   Mulch fire on Stewarts Court
   Wires fire on Charlestown Road
   Fuel spill on Rosewood Lane
   Vehicle fire on Conestoga Road
   Vehicle accidents on:
  • Bodine Road
  • Route 29 at Aldham Road
  • Charlestown and Hollow Roads
  • Conestoga Road
  • Coldstream Road at the ÒSÓ bend
Precipitation for January was .6" below normal for the month. We are 10.5" below normal for the last 12 months and currently the county is under a drought warning. We are very close to a drought emergency. The burning ban in the township is still in effect.
PLEASE place ashes from the fireplace or stove in a metal container and keep them outdoors, away from combustible material for at least two weeks before disposing of them.
The monitors for the EOC are nearly installed. The biennial drill for the municipalities in the Limerick Generating Station Emergency Planning Zone has been rescheduled to May 7, 2002.
Respectfully submitted,
Frederick C. Alston
Fire Marshal / Emergency Management Coordinator
