THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
of Charlestown Township

The Comprehensive Plan was approved by the Board of Supervisors at their meeting on December 3, 2001. The final text and diagrams of the plan will be posted here when available.

View and Download portions of the Comprehensive Plan

Text All of the sections of the text and some graphic portions of the Comprehensive Plan are available as web pages. They were created by saving the original Microsoft Word documents as HTML and have not been "cleaned up" to remove artifacts (improperly converted images and formatting) of the conversion to HTML. After this draft version has become final, I will spend the time to clean up the web version.

Maps in PDF format:
If you want to look at and/or print these maps in the clearest format, get the "PDF" versions listed above. When opened in Adobe Acrobat, you may zoom in on any portion of these maps with no loss of definition quailty. Also, they will print very sharp on color inkjet printers. Set your printer to "landscape" orientation and select "fit to page" and a high quality and you will get a very fine image on 8.5x11 paper.
Maps in GIF format
Maps in GIF format are smaller files and faster to download, but are not as clear when viewed on the screen or printed. Also, the larger GIF maps cannot easily be viewed in a web browser. Zooming in on GIFs is of little use as they lose their sharpness. If you already have software to enlarge and reduce images, then you may be able to reduce large GIF maps and retain their readability.
To see the differences, you may find it best to look at a GIF of one of the smaller maps first, and then look at the PDF version of the same map.
