Building Permit Information & Forms

This section is for Charlestown Residents wishing to undertake a project that may require obtaining building permits. If you determine from the information in this section that a building permit is required for your project, you will find samples of the forms in this section as well, in "pdf" format. Most computers come with Adobe Acrobat and will automatically display a "pdf" formatted file when you download it.
IMPORTANT: If you determine that a building permit is required for your project, you must obtain a complete permitting packet directly from the Township Office. Building Permit Application Packets may be picked up in person at the Township Office, 4030 Whitehorse Road, (over the Devault PO) between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM Mon-Fri, or you may email or telephone (610-240-0326) the Township Administrator and request a packet, which will be mailed to you.
On July 1, 2004, Charlestown Township began implementing the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (UCC). This new code created substantial changes to our procedures for obtaining building permits.
To help residents understand this process, the Township Administrator has prepared a Guide to Permits document describing the types of permits required and the forms and procedures necessary to obtain appropriate permits.
Downloadable PDF versions of the Guide to Permits document as well as samples of the other documents and forms associated with permitting are available from the list below. Remember, the information on this web site is to educate you and forms printed from this site are not to be submitted as part of a permit application. You must obtain a complete, up to date permitting packet directly from the Township Office before undertaking the application process.
