Charlestown Township Becomes A "Vision Partner"

Landscapes, the regional plan promoted by the Chester County Planning Commission for the cooperation of Municipal and County government to work within the same framework and prevent the continuation of population "sprawl" has been adopted my Charlestown Township. Landscapes advocates the creation of "livable landscapes" which emphasize more intense development of urban and suburban centers in order to draw development away from rural areas. This plan would not supercede the comprehensive plans of municipalities such as ours as required under the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code.
Municipalities who participate enter into a "Vision Partnership" with the County and are eligible for funding assistance of up to $70,000 for planning projects including a thorough review of local zoning ordinances to identify changes necessary to implement the "Vision".
The Board of Supervisors voted 2 to 1 to participate in this program.
