A beautiful part of southeastern Pennsylvania

Michael Bowell - Horticulturalist and Orchid Specialist

Charlestown Township has a number of noted horticulturalists, and Michael Bowell, of Bodine Road, is one of the best known. Michael has been exhibiting orchids at the Philadelphia Flower Show for the past 12 years and has been a major exhibitor at this prestigious event for four of those years. In 1996 and again this year (1998) Michael's exhibit won the "Best of Show" award.

We visited the 1998 Philadelphia Flower Show and have assembled a brief photo album of Michael's exhibit, "The Spell of the Garden", which you can see by clicking here. This exhibit simulating an orchid and herb garden was done in conjunction with the Ohio Herb Society.

From our Neighbors of Note page (which has been in existence for less than a year at the time of this writing), you will see that Michael has been mentioned frequently for various awards. Michael grows many of his flowers on his property on Bodine Road, and he operates the Flora Design Gallery featuring orchids, fine crafts and custom design services in Kimberton.
