A beautiful part of southeastern Pennsylvania
Photos of the PA Tpk Bridge Construction
over Phoenixville Pike at Rt. 29
Page 1, 2, 3, 4 4 Photos this page
These photos were taken Saturday, March 9, 2002 while Phoenixville Pike was closed under the Turnpike Bridge.
The crane had to lift straight up before swinging to miss the trees.
Almost there...
The girder is lowered onto the concrete pedistal on the west end of the bridge. The far end will make a butt joint with the previously erected girder over Phoenxiville Pike.
The girder is gently aligned for the overlapping butt joint with the previously installed girder.
The next page two shows close-ups of the butt joint. Click here.
