Summer Program Organic Farming Academy

at Maysie's Farm Conservation Center, Glenmoore, PA

As people come to understand the benefits that organic agriculture provides for the environment, the consumer, and the producer, they increasingly want to know, Where does our food come from? At the Organic Farming Academy at Maysie's Farm Conservation Center, students will find out where their food comes from, as well as some of the principles of ecological resource management and organic agriculture. By planting, transplanting, managing, and harvesting crops for the Community Supported Agriculture program at Maysie's Farm, students in the Academy will be learning hands-on about soil fertility practices, crop rotation principles, organic pest control methods, and other.???ects of the art and science of growing great vegetables. Ultimately, students will come to appreciate how their life-style choices affect their health and the health of the Earth. They will also learn that hard work can be great fun!
Maysie's Farm Conservatin Center is located at 15 St. Andrew's Lane in Glenmoore, PA (610-458-8129). Cost: $200

Deadline for enrollment: June 16, 2000. Registration and enrollment in courses will be confirmed by mail. A 10% discount will be given for additional children in the same family enrolling in the Academy. Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
