Arthritis Foundation Joints in Motion Team

Background - Supervisor Irene Ewald's son Carl is both a runner and a person concerned with "giving back" to the community. This year he is again participating as a member of the Arthritis Foundation Joints in Motion Training Team and will be running in the upcoming Alaska Marathon. I asked Carl to give me additional information as well as provide a means for interested residents to contribute towards his goal of raising $2,500 for the Arthritis Foundation. Here is Carl's response.

Dear Neighbors:
In two weeks I will be running the Alaska Marathon in Anchorage as a member of the Arthritis Foundation Joints in Motion Training Team. You may have seen me running through the Township over the past seven months that I have been training; although, if you have, it likely means that you are getting up way too early. On Tuesday mornings, I was the one running up hills and jogging back down so I could run up them again .
The training has been tough, especially in the heat and humidity we have had of late. The weather of the past few weeks makes the miles seem twice as long. But, now I am ready, and the weather in Anchorage should be perfect; cool and dry and in the mid fifties at the start.
This will be my second marathon with the Arthritis Foundation. Last year I ran the Dublin Marathon and it was a great success. This year, I hope to cut more than twenty minutes off of my time and finish in 3 hours and 30 minutes.
Aside from running the marathon, there is a second goal to my training program. As part of the Joints in Motion Team, I have committed to raising at least $2,500 for the Arthritis Foundation. I am a little more than half way there. But, I need help.
The Arthritis Foundation is a great organization that provides programs and funds research for the treatment and cure of the more than 100 forms of arthritis. More than 70 million Americans, one in three people, suffer from some form of arthritis. The Arthritis Foundation is fighting every day to make their lives better and significant advances have been made in the past few years. But much more needs to be done. Best of all, when you give to the Arthritis Foundation, you can rest assured that the money you give is going to the programs and research that you support. More than 81% of every dollar given goes directly to the programs you support.
I would very much appreciate it if you would help me with my fundraising to help the millions of people, including my mother, who feel the pain of arthritis. Contributions by cash or by check, made out to the "Arthritis Foundation", can be sent to me at Carl Ewald, 185 Pine Drive, Phoenixville, PA 19460. Or, if you would like to contribute securely on-line, I have set up a website at http://www.alaskamarathon.chariteam.com/ where you can contribute with most major credit cards. Anything that you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and I hope this letter finds you well.
Sincerely,

Carl W. Ewald
