SEPTEMBER 30, 2000 9 A.M.

There will be an open house for anyone who wants to provide input into the Charlestown Park Hiking Trail BEFORE work is started. Ed Theurkauf, Mark Connolly, and Paul Hogan set the stakes for the trail that we hope will be up and running by Christmas.

Before the contract for the 1 mile+ long, 6' wide trail is let out for bid, we want to hear from those of you who have suggestions for improving the routing of the trail. Paul Hogan will conduct a "walk through" of the trail after explaining the planning process. This is the time to be heard.

We will have the proposed plan available for questions and comments. This is your chance to voice your expert and inexpert opinions or make recommendations. Please feel free to walk the trail by yourself anytime the week before the Trail Day. Just follow the little red flags.

Some questions to ponder on the walk include:

  • Are sections too close to the fence along Coldstream Road?

  • Are there enough cross paths to shorten the walk for those who don’t want to do the whole mile?

  • Are the footbridges the Boy Scouts are installing in the best places?

  • What sore of trees should be planted along the Coldstream Road section?

Wear old clothes because there are a lot of prickers that haven’t yet been picked by us!
